HOW TO PROVOKE POSITIVE CHANGE

Text:
Matthew 20:29-34.  And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
Changes occur regularly in the World that we live. Seasons change. Weather changes.  Government changes. Men’s stature and structure changes.  In fact change  is one event that is constant in life. But change is either positive or negative. However, no one likes negative change yet what many people do not know is how to activate change in a positive direction.
In the Bible passage above we learn some lessons from the BLIND MEN who experienced positive change in their lives.

The first is:
Know the unchanging Changer
The Bible- the true and unchanging WORD OF GOD- says in John 8:32, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Again it says, John 8:36, ‘’if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed’’.  Knowledge they say is POWER. Knowing HIM ‘’that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, (Eph 3:20) is the first step, for JESUS said of himself-‘’ I am the WAY…’’ and ‘’there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.’’ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

The second is:
Have faith in the unchanging changer
In Matthew 9:27-31 we read ‘’And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened;…

Faith is necessary to provoke positive change. Before JESUS could do anything he asked the blind men-‘’ Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.’’  If they had said ‘no’ or ‘we are not sure’ Jesus would not have healed them just as it is written in Matthew 13:58 ‘’And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.’’  To emphasize the importance of faith, God in four separate places said ‘’The just shall live by his faith’’. (Hab 2:4; Ro 1:17; Ga 3:11; Heb 10:38) Faith is acting on the word of GOD-believing that God will do what he said he will do’’ (James2:18) Are you passing through a negative situation?  Are people aware of your predicament and those who seem to care are helpless, OR no one seem to care at all? There is one who cares and that is GOD through JESUS CHRIST. If you can put your faith in his son- JESUS CHRIST- and stand firm, there will definitely be light at the end of the tunnel.

The third lesson is:
Tell him the Change you need in your life
The most common mistake most people make is thinking that because God knows what they are passing through, they do not need to tell God about it. When the blind men came to Jesus, Jesus knew that they were blind yet he asked them ‘’ What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.( Matt 20:32-33). Because the life of men is full of many troubles (Job 5:7) God would want to know the very area you need positive change when you come to him. This why the scripture says in Matthew 7:7-8 ’Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Connect with the unchanging changerTHE LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST- now by giving your life to him. Trust HIM and tell him what you want and you will surely experience the positive change you need in your life, for it is written in Hebrews 10:23 ‘’Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ;).’’
