Text: Exodus 17:1-6; Numbers
20:7-12
We learn that the only thing that is constant on Earth is
CHANGE. With time every other thing changes. In facing the matters of life we
must learn to use alternative methods in achieving goals. In healing the sick
Our Lord Jesus did the same (John 9:1-7; Matt 20:29-34). In meeting the needs
of the Israelites in the wilderness God did the same (Exodus 17:1-6; Numbers
20:7-12). Here in Exodus God asked Moses to strike the rock for water to come
out, while in Numbers 20:7-12, to achieve the same miraculous result, God asked
him to speak to the rock. Although, either way, God can perform the same
miracle, yet it is definitely easier to speak to the rock than to strike the
rock. When you strike the rock, you
exert more energy. Also, the one who is striking a rock will feel some
formidable resistance. If you keep meeting with resistance while doing what you
routinely do, find out better, easier and more productive alternatives. Learning
to rely on the power and wisdom of God through the HOLY SPIRIT rather than your
own wisdom and power will help a great deal. ‘’Not by POWER nor by MIGHT, but
by my SPIRIT says the LORD’’ Zech 4:
